  1. CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS BODY WISDOM, PERFORMANCE ART LAB
    DATE JULY 18–19, 2026
    LOCATION MONTREAL, CANADA
    SOURCE TATIANA KOROLEVA

Call for Participants: Body Wisdom, Performance Art Lab

DATES: Saturday, July 18 & Sunday, July 19
TIME: 1:00–4:00 pm
FEE: $95

Our bodies carry stories, memories, emotions, and knowledge that often remain beyond words. Through performance art, we can gently access these deeper layers of experience, opening a space for creativity, self-exploration, and healing.

In this lab, we will explore the subtle connection between performative presence, our capacity for expression, and the innate sense of aliveness within the body. In response to today’s demanding and ever-changing environment, the lab invites participants to access their inner resources of vitality, creativity, resilience, and potential for transformation.

Through guided creative explorations, we will reconnect with bodily sensations, emotions, and memories in a supportive environment. By slowing down, listening to the body, and engaging in performance art-based practices, we create opportunities to release tension, deepen self-awareness, and cultivate a stronger sense of integration between mind, body, and emotion.

No previous experience in performance art is necessary. The workshop is open to artists, dancers, performers, movers, and anyone curious about exploring the expressive and transformative potential of the body through creative practice.

Led by Montréal-based performance artist, educator, and researcher Tatiana Koroleva, the workshop draws on nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of performance art, somatic practice, and butoh. Inspired by themes of memory, migration, and intergenerational healing, her workshops investigate the transformative potential of the body, creating spaces for authentic self-expression, and embodied awareness. She holds a PhD in Humanities from Concordia University and teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses.

  1. EVENT SUMMERWORKS
    DATE AUGUST 6–16, 2026
    LOCATION TORONTO, CANADA
    SOURCE SUMMERWORKS

Another incredible summer has arrived in Tkaronto, and so has the full Festival programming for the 36th SummerWorks Performance Festival! Take a deep breath, and dive into each production or workshop, or site-engaged or community-centred program, to reveal this stellar lineup of local, national, and international artists.

Our 2026 edition features 27 live performances, including three world premieres, six works-in-development, five site-engaged performances, along with seven workshops and panel discussions. This year marks a significant moment in SummerWorks’ history, as 1/3 of the overall curated programming features international artists and creative collaborators from ten (10) countries and regions (Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Mexico, New Zealand, and Taiwan), making this one of our most internationally-diverse summer Festivals to date.

This year’s Festival theme, Fight | Flight brings forward urgent creative responses to this troubling moment in time. Across the 2026 Festival, artists root themselves in place, community, ancestry, and practice, while also shifting perspectives, rewriting histories, and creating new narratives through the body, exploring memory, consent, transformation, and identity, through resistance, humour, and intimacy.

Join us for 11 days of fiercely contemporary and strikingly intimate contemporary performance from August 6–16!
