Vancouver-born artist Aleesa Cohene has been producing videos and installations since 2001. Their work has shown in festivals and galleries across Canada as well as in Brazil, Cambodia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, Scandinavia, Turkey, and the United States. Solo exhibitions include I Know You Know (Oakville Galleries, Oakville), Yes, Angel (Galerie Suvi Lehtinen, Berlin) and The Rest Is Real (Vtape, Toronto); and group exhibitions Coming After (The Power Plant, Toronto) and Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time (Or Gallery, Vancouver). They hold a Masters of Visual Studies from the University of Toronto.

Transmitting Trio A (1966) with Sara Wookey

Led by Sara Wookey, a group of dance and performance artists learn Yvonne Rainer’s seminal work, Trio A (1966). The starting point for this project is the shared conversation between dance and performance artists around the distinctions between repertoire and reenactment, in particular consideration of how these modes of archiving in live art relate to the increasing interest in presenting performance art and choreography in the museum.
