Land Acknowledgement

FADO Performance Art Centre acknowledges that as settlers, we are not the first to gather in this place where we currently operate, the location where you can find our office and the place where the vast majority of the performances we present are created, witnessed and enjoyed. This land, the place that we now refer to as ‘Toronto’ is the traditional and unceded territory of many First Nations and peoples including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples, living as they were in the North Part of Turtle Island.

FADO identity and website designed and developed by I Know You Know. The rebranding process aimed for an "anti-identity" approach—as little design as possible, an empty frame for artists to fill. The guiding question soon became: How does the website itself “perform”? A clock counts time spent on the site; an oversized cursor highlights gesture and focus; a time machine panel refreshes and reframes the archive; a synesthesia of color and custom fragrances guides navigation.
