FADO is expanding!

FADO is joining THE COMMONS @ 401 RICHMOND! We are moving office and opening a new presentation space, and we need your support.

Happy New Year!

Dear FADO friends,

2016 was a big year for all of us, in more ways than one. For FADO, it was a bigger year than usual. We launched our epic MONOMTYHS series and witnessed some incredible work by Canadian artists Ursula Johnson, Cherl L'Hirondelle, Maria Hupfield, Shawna Dempsey & Lorri Milan, Feminist Art Gallery, Syrus Marcus Ware; and international artists Armando Minjarez, Jefferson Pinder, Michelle M. Wright and Mary Coble. We worked with some amazing partners and organizations including the Theatre Centre, Progress Festival and our longest running partners and friends at the 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art

It's January, and everything is new. New programming, new partners, new home. The biggest change of 2016 for FADO is moving! Not only are we getting a new office, but we are joining a consortium of other local organizations and artist-run centres in a new and exciting (and big) project called THE COMMONS @ 401 RICHMOND.

THE COMMONS is a custom-built facility like no other in Toronto, housing 5 organizations and festivals that each a support a variety of artistic practices, including visual, media and performance art. THE COMMONS is a collaborative space for diverse artistic and cultural communities to come together for exhibition, presentation, learning and research.

Our five organizations include:

THE COMMONS will house:

  • Exhibition and Presentation Space;
  • 60-seat Screening Room;
  • State of the art climate-controlled Research Space housing the collected archives of the five organizations and others from across Toronto;

We have already raised 50% of our goal with support from all three levels of government. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP. You can also support the creation of The Commons @ 401 Richmond immediately with a donation of any size and receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Every donor will benefit from a charitable tax receipt for their contribution. PLUS:
