Matthew Lovett

Matthew Lovett is a musician, researcher and Senior Lecturer. His creative practice is focused on processes and aesthetics of improvised music making. Currently based at the University of Wales, Newport, he is the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Creative Sound and Music and lectures in Musicology, Composition and Performance. He is also a PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University, London. Current research is based on the proposition that the act of musical improvisation can be used as a model through which to explore contemporary theories of subjectivity and consciousness, including phenomenology and cognition.
