Born in Switzerland and currently based in Toronto, Claudia Wittmann’s artistic process is based on Butoh and the curriculum of Jerzy Grotowski. Often intimate, her performances explore vulnerability and transformation, dealing with gender identity and more particularly with body habits that point towards a sensation of self-betrayal. Performing around Toronto since 2003, Claudia is also a curator of events that explore the role of the audience. She holds a PhD in biology and a Master's degree in the history and philosophy of science.
